Former Detroit-area food truck Shimmy Shack’s new retro diner will serve Coney dogs, burgers, and shakes, and host birthday parties, gift-basket making events, and vegan vintage clothing pop-ups.
Shimmy Shack, a Detroit Metro-area vegan food truck, is planning to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Plymouth Township, MI, on August 1. The Shimmy Shack diner will serve comfort dishes such as “Coney” hot dogs, burgers, nachos, French fries served with a variety sauces, and milkshakes in chocolate, strawberry, and Cookie Monster flavors. “We know that Michigan loves our healthier fast-food options because we prove that vegan and gluten-free comfort food can be tasty, filling, satisfying, sassy, and leave you wanting more,” Shimmy Shack owner Debra Levantrosser (known to fans as “Shimmy Mama”) said. Shimmy Shack also will host birthday parties for children and adults and vegan vintage clothing pop-up shops with clothing provided by The Velvet Tower. “Every time you eat at Shimmy Shack, you know you are being compassionate toward animals, nice to your body, and kind to the environment,” Levantrosser said. “We show that living a vegan lifestyle just makes sense.”
